Do’s and Don’ts - Career
Management Consultants has developed this list of “Do’s and Don’ts”
based on our experience in coaching many people through the process
of career transition. These suggestions prepare an individual to
launch their career change effort. Right now, the important
thing to realize is that a well-planned, focused approach offers the
best chance of success. Preparation is the key!
Group Workshops - In situations where a customized
individual program is not feasible, CMC offers comprehensive
outplacement workshops tailored to
meet your employees’ specific concerns and needs. Depending on the
level of the employees, CMC offers a one-, two- or three-day
workshop. These workshops use a variety of approaches,
test inventories, a job search manual and other materials to provide
the participants with the necessary skills to find the most suitable
job possible in the shortest possible time. We recommend providing workshops
for up to 10 employees per workshop to allow for sufficient and
meaningful personalized attention, as well as one-on-one follow-up
counseling.
Three Month Outplacement Program -
This program provides
individualized attention in all areas of career search and support
for three months. Our comprehensive 20 point outplacement
program includes personal coaching, access to job listings, access
to listing of over 450,000 potential employers, resumes, postage,
internet access and many other services for successful job
searching. On acceptance of new position,
one month follow-up coaching services to ensure success in the new
job.
Executive Six Month Program -
This program provides
individualized attention in all areas of career search and support
for six months. Our comprehensive 20 point outplacement
program includes personal coaching, access to job listings, access
to listing of over 450,000 potential employers, resumes, postage,
internet access and many other services for successful job
searching. On acceptance of new position,
one month follow-up coaching services to ensure success in the new
job.
Executive One Year Program -
Designed specifically around the
needs of the executive/manager, this program offers individualized
attention in all areas of career search for an agreed upon time period
12 months (normally, but can vary). Our comprehensive 20 point
outplacement program includes personal coaching, access to job
listings, access to listing of over 450,000 potential employers,
resumes, postage, internet access and many other services for
successful job searching. On acceptance of new position,
follow-up coaching to ensure success in the new job
Senior Executive Outplacement Program - Duration:
Until executive secures an appropriate position. This exclusive
program is created to meet the unique needs of the senior executive
as well as the requirements of the client. Because of senior
executives’ compensation levels and high profile in the company,
industry and/or community, a very personalized, sensitive and
diplomatic approach is used, with unlimited professional career
counseling, to ensure the career transition is successful and a
positive client image maintained.
On acceptance of
new position, 18-month follow-up coaching to ensure success in the
new
job.
Spouse Relocation Service -
Research confirms that the
failure rate of new executive hires approaches 50%. Most of these
frustrating (and expensive!) failures are more the result of
personal/family dissatisfaction than job-related issues. Relocation
is a difficult transition for the new executive and often even more
difficult for the trailing spouse and family. The ability to adapt
to a new community, new home, new schools, new friends, and (in the
case of the working spouse) another new job is critical for a
successful relocation.
The career transition effort of
the trailing spouse is a particularly challenging one. Lacking both
a local contact network and knowledge of the areas’ economy and job
opportunities, the individual is often frustrated by a long search.
Career Management Consultants’ local experience and expert
consultants can shorten the process dramatically and thus improve
the likelihood of a smooth, successful relocation.
Career Management Consultants can
help! Our Spouse Relocation Service provides individualized coaching
to the trailing spouse in support of his/her career transition
efforts. The program generally consists of three months of support
(although program length can be adjusted).
