AUGUST
2010 SCHEDULE
August 2
– “READING CAN PROMPT CREATIVE IDEAS”-We
will discuss a list of recommended readings related to the
career transition process. Summer is a great time to settle
with a book at the beach or in the backyard. Bring your
ideas and favorite list of books to share with the group!
August 9 – “NETWORKING-THE ROAD TO
SUCCESS IN THIS TOUGH ECONOMY” – We will discuss what is
working for the group with their networking and the
importance of keeping your networking skills going during
your career search. This is one ball that you don’t want to
drop.
August 16 – “RECRUITING USING SOCIAL NETWORK
MEDIA” – We will have a guest speaker, Katie S. Nix,
Human Resource Manager for McKonly & Asbury, LLP. She will
discuss the relatively new practice of utilizing social
media in the recruitment of staff.
August 23 – “UNUSUAL INTERVIEW SITUATIONS” –When
we envision ourselves in an interview, it probably involves
an office, desk and one other person. What if it is at
lunch, or outside in the courtyard or over the telephone?
We will talk about what to do when your interview is not
typical and how to handle these unusual interview
situations.
August 30 – “THE PRODUCT IS YOU!”- A job
search is a marketing campaign that involves a product that
you should know very well - yourself. We will
discuss the importance of always presenting yourself in a
positive manner and strategies to use when selling yourself
to a potential employer.
Please note:
·
Our sessions
begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. All
